Platinum Tattoos & Piercings
Follow these steps for a smooth, complication-free healing process.
Implant-grade titanium care
Your jewelry is implant-grade ASTM F136 titanium — the gold standard for healing piercings. Rinse with saline when cleaning your piercing. Never use alcohol, bleach, or jewelry cleaners on healing jewelry.
When to downsize
Your initial jewelry is longer or larger to accommodate swelling. Once swelling subsides (typically 4–8 weeks), return to your piercer for a shorter post. Downsizing reduces snagging and speeds up healing.
Signs of healthy healing
Normal: slight white/clear discharge that crusts around the jewelry, occasional tenderness, minor swelling in the first week. All of this is expected — your body is doing its job.
Signs something is wrong
See your piercer if you notice: yellow or green pus, hot skin around the piercing, increasing (not decreasing) swelling after week 2, or the jewelry sinking into your skin. Do not remove jewelry if infected.
💎 Threadless (Press-Fit) Jewelry
Your piercer uses threadless jewelry — here's what that means and how to handle it safely.
What is threadless jewelry?
Threadless (press-fit) jewelry has two pieces: a post and a decorative top. The top has a bent pin that creates tension when pressed into the post — no threads, no screwing. Used by professional piercers because it's gentler on tissue and easier to change cleanly.
How to insert the top
Hold the post steady. Insert the top's pin at a slight angle (about 20°), then gently press it straight until you feel it seat firmly. You should hear or feel a soft click. Don't force it — if it won't seat, the bend may need adjustment by your piercer.
How to remove the top
With clean hands, hold the post and pull the top straight out with your other hand. It takes a bit of firm, even pressure. Do not twist.
Never force it
If the top won't go in or come out easily, stop. Forcing it can damage the post, deform the bend, or trauma your piercing. Visit your piercer instead.
During healing, do not attempt to change your jewelry yourself.Even threadless tops can harbor bacteria if not handled correctly, and jewelry changes during healing are a leading cause of complications. Come see us — we're fast, and we'll make sure everything is clean and seated properly.
