🧴

Sterile saline spray

Use sterile wound wash (0.9% sodium chloride) 2× daily. Spray directly, let it air dry. No need to rotate or move the jewelry.

🙅

Don't touch it

Hands carry bacteria. Only touch your piercing when cleaning, and wash your hands first. Don't twist, turn, or play with it.

🚫

No harsh chemicals

Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Bactine, or iodine — they irritate tissue and slow healing. Saline only.

💤

Sleep smart

Use a travel pillow or a clean pillowcase turned inside out if the piercing is on your ear. Avoid sleeping directly on it.

👗

Watch for snagging

Be careful with clothing, hair, and accessories that could snag the jewelry. Even minor trauma extends healing.

Healing timelines

Earlobes: 6–8 weeks. Cartilage: 6–12 months. Navels: 6–12 months. Nostrils: 4–6 months. Patience is everything.

Understanding Your Jewelry

💎 Threadless (Press-Fit) Jewelry

Your piercer uses threadless jewelry — here's what that means and how to handle it safely.

1

What is threadless jewelry?

Threadless (press-fit) jewelry has two pieces: a post and a decorative top. The top has a bent pin that creates tension when pressed into the post — no threads, no screwing. Used by professional piercers because it's gentler on tissue and easier to change cleanly.

2

How to insert the top

Hold the post steady. Insert the top's pin at a slight angle (about 20°), then gently press it straight until you feel it seat firmly. You should hear or feel a soft click. Don't force it — if it won't seat, the bend may need adjustment by your piercer.

3

How to remove the top

With clean hands, hold the post and pull the top straight out with your other hand. It takes a bit of firm, even pressure. Do not twist.

4

Never force it

If the top won't go in or come out easily, stop. Forcing it can damage the post, deform the bend, or trauma your piercing. Visit your piercer instead.

⚠️

During healing, do not attempt to change your jewelry yourself.Even threadless tops can harbor bacteria if not handled correctly, and jewelry changes during healing are a leading cause of complications. Come see us — we're fast, and we'll make sure everything is clean and seated properly.
